University of Maryland IPA
University of Maryland
Aerospace Engineering Department
Bill Fourney, Chairman

The Aerospace Engineering Department at University of Maryland has an opportunity for a visiting faculty member under an IPA agreement from LaRC. The department is willing to consider any Langley personnel that would support our teaching and research role at Langley. We would envision these individuals remaining at Langley and teaching courses for Maryland and working with Jymn Hubbard in smart structures related research or working with the Maryland Liaison Professor at Hampton. We would also be willing to consider other Langley personnel who would fit into the research programs ongoing at the College Park Campus.

Should an individual be identified that would fit into our research program either at Hampton or at College Park, assignment of duties would include classroom teaching, and the supervision of graduate students and research. All facilities provided to regular faculty of the Department would be available to the IPA visitor, including the use of office, laboratory and computational facilities. The appointment can begin at the beginning of the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters, and may be for a period of 1 semester to 2 years.

Expectations include the teaching of one assigned course per semester, and participation in research projects including the advising of graduate students and scholarly publication.

The University may make a negotiated contribution to the living expenses of the IPA visitor – should they be coming to College Park.
