The Aerospace and Ocean Engineering Department at Virginia Tech has an opportunity for a visiting faculty member under an IPA agreement from LaRC. The Department has need of a person with a background in structural dynamics including structural acoustics to conduct research and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the general area of aerospace structures, in connection with the work of Professor Rakesh K. Kapania of the Department. Requirements include a Ph.D. in an appropriate specialty, and a record of research and publication.

Assignment of duties will include classroom teaching, and the supervision of graduate students and research. All facilities provided to regular faculty of the Department are available to the IPA visitor, including the use of office, laboratory and computational facilities. The appointment can begin at the beginning of the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters, and may be for a period of 1 semester to 2 years, or more.

Expectations include the teaching of one assigned course per semester, and participation in research projects including the advising of graduate students and scholarly publication.

The University may make a negotiated contribution to the living expenses of the IPA visitor.
