PROGRAM OVERVIEW
LARSS ranked 6th for nation's best internships in 2011!
The Langley Aerospace Research Student Scholars (LARSS) Program is one of NASA’s most prestigious and successful student research programs, having recently placed among the top ten best internships in the nation. LARSS has been providing mentorships in research to undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) as well as in Business, Communication, Marketing, and other areas that support NASA’s mission for the past 25 years.
LARSS is designed to bridge the gap between academic concepts and real-world experience, by creating opportunities for students to come to NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) to conduct research and work on projects under the mentorship of NASA professionals.

Congressman Wittman addressed the assembly at the LARSS 25th Anniversary Banquet, August 4, 2011.
Directive
The central directive of the LARSS program is to supply the NASA pipeline with high caliber students by enhancing their education with opportunities to work on real-world NASA projects and conduct research beside Engineers, Scientists, Technologists, and other NASA professionals. During their LARSS tenure, students conduct research in NASA LaRC’s state-of-the-science laboratories and other world-class facilities, which utilize NASA’s unique capabilities. Students also participate in professional development and enhancements activities, including but not limited to lecture colloquiums, site tours, and networking opportunities with NASA and industry professionals. In turn, the LARSS program has a direct impact on the continual supply of educated and skilled professionals for NASA and the Nation’s future workforce.
Impact
In its 25 year history, the LARSS program has provided opportunities to thousands of students from across the United States and U.S. Territories. On average, more than 200 students participate in the program per year, during the Spring, Summer, and Fall sessions.
Please note the LARSS Program is not part of NASA Solar.
Stipend Information
