STUDENT TESTIMONIALS
The Langley Aerospace Research Student Scholars Program (LARSS) is one that shapes the professional, and sometimes personal, lives of not only the students, but the mentors and staff that make the program possible. Below are testimonials and intern stories that have been collected in recent years.
Video Testimonials
The LARSS 25th Anniversary Video Diary Project was a LARSS student initiative developed over summer 2011 in the months leading up to the 25th Anniversary Celebration. The objective was to successfully capture the reflections and thoughts of past and present students, mentors, and staff. Below are video testimonials from that project. Videos can also be found at the dedicatd LARSS YouTube Channel.
Intern Stories
The Researcher News is NASA Langley Research Center's premier news service. Below are stories about interns, which have been collected over the past few years.
Professional Spotlights: Stories about LARSS Alumni
Dr. Aaron Smith

| "Dr. Aaron Smith is an advocate. Over the course of his professional life he has forged a career in education that has been driven by a passion for the advancement of opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). His passion was born in the midst of an academic career in computer science and fostered into maturity during a LARSS tenure spanning all four consecutive years of Smith’s undergraduate career. Amanda Cutright
"Growing up locally, Amanda Cutright was exposed to engineering on a daily basis. The daughter of a NASA engineer at Langley Research Center (LaRC), she was exposed to the realm of engineering and the possibilities it creates from a very early age. Combine that exposure with a childhood filled with home projects, science fairs, and a mother she describes as “crafty,” and you have the makings of a young, curious, creative engineer with a desire to succeed." . . .Read more
“I became a LARSS student as an undergraduate by complete accident…a very serendipitous accident that changed the focus of my entire career path. Due in large part to the encouragement of the contacts I made at LaRC during my LARSS tenure, I went on to pursue a Master’s Degree and became passionate about the lack of STEM majors in our country. Since then, I’ve worked with organizations who are devoted to increasing the number of students who pursue STEM fields, and I’m honored to currently be working for the Education and Outreach Office at the National Institute of Aerospace on projects that address this very issue. LARSS literally changed the course of my life for the better!”
