Subject: "Experiments in Agile Flight of Small Autonomous Vehicles"
Additional Information: Presentation (PDF)
The extraordinary advances in miniaturization of sensors and electronics make flight testing of small autonomous vehicles possible at very low costs. Since 1998, MIT has focused its efforts on exploring the possibilities offered by small vehicles to perform very agile flight. Through an even distribution of theoretical and experimental efforts, a new, maneuver-based guidance paradigm has been proposed, implemented and demonstrated on a small autonomous helicopter. Most recently, this guidance paradigm has been embedded in a mixed-integer linear programming modeling environment to perform real-time vehicle path-planning in severely constrained environments. Early experimental results about this approach will be reported.
