Abstract:
This study presents an additional analytical approach to the dynamics of a spinning structure which is proposed to be a conceptual design of a solar sail traveling in space. A rigid hub and an elastic plate are considered and employed to construct a discrete-continuous framework. A hybrid coordinate dynamical system is introduced and used for deriving the governing equations and the

Speaker Bio:
Dr. Jung-San Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering Science at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan. Her research interests include waves and vibrations, acoustics, complex structures and materials, structural dynamics, advanced continuum mechanics.
