The National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) has developed a unique graduate program that offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from our prestigious member universities: Georgia Tech, Hampton University, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina State, Old Dominion University, University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, and the College of William and Mary.
All coursework is delivered at NIA headquarters on-site and via distance learning. Students have the opportunity to take classes from any of our member universities and perform research at NASA Langley Research Center working with state-of-the-art equipment on problems of national significance. Distinguished professors in residence, liaison professors, visiting and adjunct faculty and on-site research staff create a vibrant intellectual climate.
The first full operation of our program was initiated in 2003, and NIA’s Graduate Program has continued to grow at a rapid pace. We have had nearly 150 graduates since 2004 including 39 PhDs. Currently NIA has more than 60 full and part-time students enrolled. Fifty percent of the students enrolled are Ph.D. candidates. Our students represent the top in their field of study. Please see Student Awards and Recognitions for recent accomplishments.
