Postdoctoral Associate Opportunity

The National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) has an opening for a Postdoctoral Associate to work in the area of Global Composition Modeling.  The position requires collaboration with a team of researchers from NASA Langley Research Center, NIA, and NIA member universities.

The successful candidate will utilize global atmospheric composition models combined with satellite observations to understand global atmospheric processes governing composition in the troposphere and stratosphere. Satellite observations include those made by instruments on board the NASA Aura satellite and the Canadian Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment (ACE).  Global three-dimensional chemistry and transport models to be used include the NASA Global Modeling Initiative (GMI) troposphere/stratosphere model, and the LaRC Lagrangian Chemistry and Transport model.

Requirements:

  • Recent Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent.
Other Desired Skills:
  • Experience in numerical modeling, the global atmosphere, and satellite data analysis.
  • Familiarity with FORTRAN and IDL.

The initial appointment will be for one year with possible second year renewal.  Screening of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Candidates should send a resume, abstract of doctoral dissertation, description of career goals, and the names and contact information of three current references to:
