For the Spring 2008 Semester, we continue to have a broad list of course offerings involving a mixture of distance learning technologies including synchronous (live, two-way video) and asynchronous (video-recorded) classes as well as live on-site instruction.
The links below give the complete list of course offerings for the Spring 2008 Semester, listed by each university. The courses from Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech and most Georgia Tech aerospace classes as well as some NC State and NC A&T classes are synchronous, interactive broadcasts of live courses, most of which originate from the university campus and are received in the electronic classrooms at NIA. In the listings below, the classes listed with an asterisk are *synchronous (live) course received or delivered from NIA and courses listed with a plus superscript indicate +Course instructor on-site at NIA.
Other classes listed include Georgia Tech classes and NC State courses which are asynchronous recorded versions of on-going classes. Tapes, CDs or internet-based streaming video are used to view the courses. The material may be reviewed by the student at any convenient time, provided that the student follows along a scheduled pace, usually tracking the live class by one or two weeks. Please note thate in the listings below, some Department names are followed by the designation MS and PhD, such as Mechanical Engineering (MS and PhD). This indicates that the degree program is offered at NIA. Whereas the designation Chemical Engineering (courses only) indicates that degree programs are generally not available at NIA, but that the courses are available through distance learning and they may be used to enrich the program of study of the degree programs.
In addition to the listing by university, we also provide a listing of courses by discipline for all synchronous classes. We also provide a listing of featured classes, which should be of interest to a broad cross-section of our students. These classes are taught live from NIA HQ.
