The Applied Research Center of Old Dominion University has established a National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for Laser and Plasma Applications that has many industrial members. The talk will describe some of the projects in photonics and nanostructures area. Topics such as color generation in butterfly wings, 121.6 nm VUV sources, photoemission from carbon nanotubes, carbon nanotubes as EMI shielding materials will be covered.
