David Peake Joins NIA as Vice President of Research & Program Development  
June 23, 2004 - The National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. David J. Peake as Vice President of Research and Program Development.

“We are very excited to have Dave join our team.” says Dr. Robert Lindberg, NIA President and Executive Director. “His 30 years of leadership expertise in aeronautical engineering will undoubtedly benefit our current and future research programs.”

Dr. Peake has served as the Head of the Centre for Aeronautics and Professor of Aero and Fluid Dynamics at City University, London, since 1995. He has recently been accorded the prestigious title of Professor Emeritus. Prior to that, he was President & CEO with Dynamic Engineering Inc. in Newport News, Virginia. He spent nine years at NASA Ames Research Center, holding various positions including Senior Research Scientist and Chief of Advanced Concepts. He received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Engineering from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom, and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University, Canada.

“Dave has extensive experience building aerospace and technology opportunities while managing multi-million dollar research efforts,” says Dr. Lindberg. “His knowledge of industry, government, and academia will enhance NIA’s ability to bring the three sectors together to form research partnerships.”

The National Institute of Aerospace is a premier non-profit research and graduate education institute, located just outside NASA’s Langley Research Center. It was created to pursue cutting-edge aerospace and atmospheric research, develop new technologies for the nation, and help train the next generation of scientists and engineers.

NIA was formed by a consortium of universities and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation. The roster of major research universities includes consortium members: the Georgia Institute of Technology, Hampton University, North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina State University, the University of Maryland, the University of Virginia, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and affiliate members: Old Dominion University and the College of William & Mary.
