Learning
Activities
Participants will normally be on-site at NASA Langley Research from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will be exposed to the following:
Throughout the Institute, participants will:
- Experience hands-on, real-world activities
- Work through the 6E learning cycle and implement this cycle in lesson development
- Develop a conceptual understanding of human exploration
- Increase and strengthen technology skills
- Integrate technology into instruction to model best practices
- Experience and design STEM learning activities
- Develop authentic, problem-based learning experiences
- Practice the skills, language, and tools of disciplinarians
- Work collaboratively
- Increase their understanding of their "millennial" students
During the Institute, participants will be expected to:
- Actively participate in all sessions and complete all assignments
- Make daily entries in a journal to process the workshop experiences, reflect on daily experiences, participate in an online learning community
- Develop and implement lesson plans that reflect an understanding of authentic, interdisciplinary, inquiry-based STEM instruction
- Collaborate with team members
