Engineering for Human Space Exploration
Prof. Jeffrey Hoffman, MIT Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics

Prof. Hoffman will present work currently being performed at MIT on exploration systems architecture design as applied to future human space flight projects, including the Crew Exploration Vehicle. As part of the discussion of shareholder values, he will address the nature of exploration, including considerations for the use of remote sensing, robotic probes and on-site human presence. He will identify key engineering challenges and suggest ways of developing solutions. Dr. Hoffman will put particular emphasis on engineering challenges for crew extravehicular activity, which is critical for exploration on planetary surfaces.
