Dates: September 10-14, 2007
Location: NIA, 100 Exploration Way, Hampton, Virginia
A 4 1/2-day short course on the fundamentals of hypersonic flight will be held at the National Institute of Aerospace in Hampton, Virginia, September 10-14, 2007. The course covers four fundamental areas, one each day, that include hypersonic aerodynamics, propulsion, vehicle systems integration, and structures and materials. The sessions are presented by leading experts in the field. Several U.S. hypersonic test programs will be presented during the final half-day session. Course notes from the lecture materials will be available to attendees and faculty for use in developing academic courses in hypersonics. Attendees may stay for all or any portion of this short course. Development of these short courses is sponsored by the NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD).
Four additional short courses studying hypersonic aerodynamics, propulsion, vehicle systems integration, and structures and materials at a more advanced level will be offered later this year. The first of these, Advanced Hypersonic Propulsion, will be given on October 23-25, 2007 (registration will be available on September 24th.)
