NIA Tech Transfer Hub: Process Step 4
Step 4: NIA Licensing and Commercialization Strategies
NIA believes that the NIA inventions listed in our Featured Technologies Section are ideas that will be beneficial to the general public and have commercial value. NIA has a number of contractual vehicles that are listed on our NIA Center Forms page that are the standard contractual instruments used by NIA. Typically, NIA will enter into a non-disclosure agreement with an interested party and will provide an invention information packet for review. In the event that a commercial company is interested, NIA will meet with them and have our researcher available for additional technical discussions.

NIA will normally enter in a licensing arrangement with a company and the licensing fees and royalties are then shared with the inventor according to university policy. See NIA's Invention Commercialization Checklist (MS Word). Additionally, the licensing arrangements can also result in research funding being given to NIA in consideration for the license.

For NIA researchers, NIA will consider a marketing and commercialization arrangement with you in the event you are interested in a creating a start-up company for your invention.
