Intelligent Optical Systems Workshop |

Description: NASA LaRC has set up a world-class cleanroom for fabrication of active optic devices such as Active Pixel detectors, Liquid Crystal tunable filters, Plasmon filters, and deformable mirrors. The hands-on portion of the workshop will be at the NASA LaRC Intelligent Optical Systems Cleanroom.
The workshop is sponsored by the Advanced Sensors and Optical Measurements Branch at LaRC. It will bring together researchers in the field who also have fabrication facilities or would like to use the facilities. Having an on-site workshop enables researchers in one area to be aware of the needs or capabilities in other areas that could be leveraged in their own research area. Such a workshop will kick start collaborations between NASA researchers at different centers as well as between NASA, university and industry participants, and could reduce unintentional duplication of work. Moreover, the workshop provides a hands-on forum to interact with researchers to share fabrication techniques and methodologies utilizing unique equipment at each facility. It will serve to kick off other workshops wanting to provide similar hands-on interaction at their facilities. This will enable researchers to gain access to unique expensive high performance equipment and facilities to fabricate Intelligent Optical Systems needed by NASA, DoD and the commercial sector.
The invited speakers cover a broad range of expertise and experience in fabrication of active optic components and Intelligent Optical Systems, electro-optics, physical optics, mixed signal VLSI design, controls, and signal processing.
