UAS Integration into the National Airspace

Integration of UAS into the National Airspace is a multifaceted problem. Three thrusts being focused on are geocontainment, alternative position and navigation technologies (APNT), and vehicle detection. Geocontainment strives to monitor a vehicles location in relation to a boundary in a very repeatable way. APNT is focused on testing different ways of determining a location without the use of the Global Positioning System. Vehicle detection is focusing on both cooperative and uncooperative detection of vehicles for use in flight path planning.
